Rendering Photo

The construction company sent me this rendering of the new school.  Doesn't it look beautiful?!  I love the tower and stone work.

Construction Pictures

The School Community Council met on Tuesday and we listened to a presentation from the district transportation department about busing.  Those parents in attendance were divided up into committees to begin addressing safe walking routes as well.

The district and the city are looking into adding sidewalks to some parts of 1100 North.  I will keep you posted as further information is available.

The road base and storm drains are in and there is even a little bit of curbing.

Weekly Construction Visit

At my weekly construction meeting I saw great progress with the building.  The brick work is almost at its completion.  More of the school has a roof and the road in front of the school is being graded.  The west end of the school will begin installation of sheetrock next week.

School Name Selections

Thank you to everyone who participated in the school naming process thus far.  We had 81 submissions for names, mascots, and school colors.

The naming committee met this past week and discussed all of the submissions. The naming committee followed district guidelines for choosing a name, considered all of the names submitted, and then narrowed down the choices to 6 possible names for the school.  After a little more discussion, each member voted for their top three choices of name, mascot and colors.

The ballots were calculated and the three names receiving the most votes will be presented to the school board this coming Tuesday, March 11th.  The school board considers these three names, mascots and colors and at the following board meeting, they will select the name for the school along with the mascot and colors.

So without further ado, here are the three names that will be submitted to the school board:

Dry Creek Elementary
Mascot:  Owls
Colors:  Navy Blue, Yellow and Silver
This name has historical significance because Dry Creek was one of the first names for the city of Lehi.

Skyview Elementary
Mascot:  Owls
Colors:  Navy Blue, Yellow and Silver
Members of the naming committee felt this name was descriptive of our school because we'll be able to look out over the lake and see a beautiful view of the sky.

North Shore Elementary
Mascot:  Owls
Colors:  Navy Blue, Yellow and Silver
The school is located on the north shore of Utah Lake.

A Wet and Muddy Visit

My visit to the school this past week was pretty wet and muddy but I saw a lot of progress in the building.

This is the iron work around the beams that are the foundation for the school.
